Er schreibt, er habe einen hungernden 23-Jährigen bei sich aufgenommen, der verzweifelt nach Arbeit suche. Er sei ganz allein, ohne Freunde, ohne Geld und Berufsausbildung, aber mit einem großen musikalischen Talent. Herkomer fragt im Brief nach Hilfsangeboten und Einrichtungen in London, die Menschen in Not unterstützen. Diese Information sei sicher auch für andere Menschen interessant.
